I am a career kindergarten and first grade teacher and a few years ago I realized that teaching the five and six-year-olds was very similar to training puppies! So dog training came pretty naturally to me. My philosophy has always been to give puppies lots of consistent practice, remembering their rules, boundaries, and limitations, but combining that with oodles and oodles of snuggles! Puppies of all ages love to come to Miss Danette’s house and are pleased to offer me their best behavior because they can feel how much I love them and care for them. I use positive reinforcement, and every training program is tailored to the needs of the pup. There is no one-size-fits-all training.

“Okay, Danette Karnes – DoodleTrainer is a miracle worker!
Exhibit A: my sweet but NUTTY puppy Macey Belle before going to Ms. Danette’s.
Exhibit B: Still my sweet Macey, but sleeping in my kitchen, totally transformed and easily 75% calmer than before.
My husband is “ooo”ing and “ahhh”ing at her calmer behavior, most of all how quickly she drops and leaves things that she isn’t supposed to have in her mouth. She gives our cat space, doesn’t pull me around on her leash when we go outside, isn’t grabbing our shoes/remote/paper towels/ etc., less barking, jumping, zoomies, I could go on and on.
Danette trained me too. I had no will power, and gave into everything
Now I have my mom voice and new ways to show Macey love (hint: low tone of voice and calm rewarding instead of crazy wild excitement)
5/5 stars from the Burnette’s and our Macey girl!”

“Leaving your pup in someone else’s care for the first time is a lot like leaving your human babies. But, we were so impressed by the care with which Ms. Danette Karnes – DoodleTrainer provided for our baby boy that we wouldn’t hesitate to trust her again.
In the few days that Roscoe was with Danette, she was able to lay some very foundational work for correcting some of those pesky behaviors (i.e. pulling, jumping up for attention and onto furniture) that come along with puppy hood.
And, the best thing about it- she travels, too! Having a trusted SCL friend willing to travel up to Tallahassee to help us out is a godsend.
We’ll definitely be needing some refreshers in the future and will try to coordinate with Danette. She’s our first pick. Roscoe’s too!”

“Winnie doesn’t pull on his leash, drops his toys for us to throw instead of running around with it and us chasing, and no longer gets up on the couch!
The harness works great. he even let me take it off and put it on without any struggle. Big win!!
